Plan Your Visit

You can visit the Museum at any time for a self-guided tour of our permanent collection or exhibitions.

Members of the public are welcome to enquire with Museum Staff of any upcoming group tours in which they may be able to attend. In addition, special tours and educational talks can be booked for schools and other groups. Booking enquires may be directed to Museum Staff via email or phone 02 9551 9743.

Other Group Bookings

The Reserve Bank of Australia Museum offers a range of presentations for groups of all levels of knowledge and age ranges, including groups with accessibility requirements.

  • A minimum of 10 people is required to place a booking.
  • All educational services from the Bank are free of charge.

Our Museum Staff will advise during the booking process of the best-suited presentation topics for your group (topics offered will depend on a group's subject knowledge, background and any associated studies).

A Guided Tour of the Museum

Museum Educators will provide a Guided Tour through the Museum displays, explaining how the story of Australia's banknotes has unfolded against the backdrop of the country's broader history.

Duration: 20-30 minutes
Audience: Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Exploring Australia's Banknotes

Museum Educators will provide an interactive presentation exploring the security features, production process and lifecycle of Australia's banknotes. It will focus on the currently released Next Generation Banknotes and explore the topic of counterfeiting.

Duration: 20-30 minutes
Audience: Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Train

The closest train stations are Martin Place (17 metres) and St James (450 metres). Wynyard Station is 550 metres away and about a 10 minutes walk.

Ferry

If coming by Ferry, alight at Circular Quay for bus routes 372, 373 or X73 to Martin Place (Elizabeth Street) and walk up Martin Place to the Museum. Alternatively, the walk from Circular Quay to the Museum takes around 10 minutes.

Bus

There are a number of bus routes that stop close to the Museum. Visit the Sydney Buses to find your most convenient route.

Car

Parking stations close by include The Domain Car Park at Marys Road, Sydney and Parkhouse Car Park at 187 Macquarie Street, Sydney. There is also metered parking available near the Museum.
